The 2022 NBA Draft is here. After the long NBA season has come to a close, the first tentpole event of the offseason is upon us with the NBA Draft taking place on Thursday, June 23rd.On the day of the big night, reports are flying around about the number of potential trades that could shake up the draft. While the first three picks appear to be locked in with Auburn's Jabari Smith Jr., Gonzaga's Chet Holmgren and Duke's Paolo Banchero going to the Magic, Thunder and Rockets, respectively, all signs point to chaos with the Kings at the No. 4 pick. Will Sacramento stand pat and take Purdue star Jaden Ivey? Or will it try and trade the pick to acquire a win-now a set to try and snap its 16-year playoff drought?NBA DRAFT BIG BOARD: Below, you can find our updated 2022 NBA Mock Draft with Cameron Wake Jersey a "latest news" section for each team that has some buzz around their pick. For comparison to previous Mock Drafts, you can check out our editions from , ,,and and.So without further ado with the first pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, the Magic select...NBA Mock Draft 2022 (NBAE via Getty Images) First Round1. Orlando Magic:Jabari Smith Jr., AuburnPosition:FHeight and weight:6-foot-10, 210 lbs.Age:19, FreshmanThe latest news:The Rodger Saffold Jersey Magic appear to be locked in on Smith with the No. 1 pick, , "any other scenario would be a major surprise to league executives."The fit:Smith will give Orlando the size, versatility, athleticism and perimeter shooting it desperately needs. He can play alongside Wendell Carter Jr. to make a terrorizing defensive frontcourt and he fits nicely next to last year's standout rookie, Franz Wagner. Guards like Jalen Suggs and Cole Anthony will make life easier for Smith as a spot-up shooter and if he can develop his shot creation skills, he'll give the Magic a No. 1 scoring option down the road.NBA DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT: 2. Oklahoma City Thunder: Chet Holmgren, GonzagaPosition:C/FHeight and weight:7-foot-1, 190 lbs.Age: 20, FreshmanThe latest news: Holmgren has only worked out for Orlando and Oklahoma City and with Smith all but certain to go No. 1, all signs point to the Gonzaga freshman landing here at No. 2.The fit:The Thunder already have their backcourt of the future in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey and with this pick, they'll get some much-needed length and rim protection in Holmgren. Holmgren fits Oklahoma City's tendency to target players with size and length, and next to Gilgeous-Alexander and Giddey, he'll be able to ease into an offensive role as a post threat and secondary scorer. Holmgren will also help stretch the floor for the Thunder but most importantly, it's his defense that will be an a set to this rebuilding OKC roster.NBA DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT: 3. Houston Rockets: Paolo Banchero, DukePosition:FHeight and weight:6-foot-10 Adoree' Jackson Jersey , 235 lbs.Age:19, FreshmanThe latest news:Shortly after the Rockets got a private look at Banchero during a pre-draft workout, they traded starting power forward Christian Wood to the Mavericks for an additional first-round pick, paving the way for Houston to land the Duke product at No. 3.The fit:Even though Banchero slides to No. 3 here, this is a perfect fit for the Duke product. The Rockets could use a scorer like Banchero to take some pre sure off of last year's No. 2 pick Jalen Green, and it's an added bonus that the freshman star is also an advanced playmaker to also help set up the prolific bucket-getter. Banchero will give Houston a versatile player on both ends of the floor who will be a great building block for the future of the franchise. Banchero, in my opinion, is the best player in this draft cla s, and the Rockets would be lucky for him to fall two slots.NBA DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT: 4. Sacramento Kings: Jaden Ivey, PurduePosition:GHeight and weight:6-foot-4, 200 lbs.Age: 20, SophomoreThe latest news:According to multiple reports, this pick is where the draft will truly begin on Thursday night. that nearly every team picking behind Sacramento noting the Pacers, Wizards, Knicks, Thunder and Hawks have inquired about moving up to select Ivey. And even though that Ivey has had no contact with the Kings ahead of the draft, I'm keeping the Purdue guard here as he will be the selection if a team moves up. It's also worth noting that indicated the Kings have interest in Iowa's Keegan Murray if they don't trade the pick. The fit:This is a tough spot for the Kings because Ivey will undoubtedly be the best player remaining on the board. The problem? Sacramento literally just cleared up a self-induced backcourt logjam last season. After the Malcolm Butler Jersey Kings drafted Davion Mitchell with their first-round pick last year, they traded away Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield to solidify De'Aaron Fox as their lead guard of the future. But Sacramento needs as much talent as it can get and pa sing on Ivey would be ill-advised. The Purdue sophomore could pair with Fox to make one of the fastest backcourts in the NBA and they'd both play nicely off of a skilled and cerebral big man like Domantas Sabonis. Pa sing on the best player available because of the presence of Mitchell and Fox would be a mistake.MORE: (Getty Images) 5. Detroit Pistons:Keegan Murray, IowaPosition:FHeight and weight:6-foot-8, 215 lbs.Age:21, SophomoreThe latest news: the day before the draft, that shakes up my Mock Draft board. With Ryan Succop Jersey Grant off the roster, the Pistons now have a need at the power forward position and they should be in line to take Murray here if he doesn't go to the Kings at No. 4. If Murray does go fourth, it should take approximately 3 seconds for the Pistons to phone in the pick for Ivey. It's still worth noting that ESPN's Givony reported the Pistons' front office and coaching staff is "especially interested" in Bennedict Mathurin (a suming Ivey is off the board). The fit:All along I had the Pistons targeting a backcourt mate to pair with Cade Cunningham here, but following the Grant trade, Murray makes too much sense. Murray was one of the best and most efficient scorers in the country last season and he would replace Grant's offensive firepower in Detroit's frontcourt. He doesn't need as many shots as Grant does to rack up points, making for a smooth pairing next to Cunningham and sharpshooter Saddiq Bey. Murray is also a more physical defender than Grant, giving the Pistons a forward to build around for the
